THE FASCINATING DRAGON KILN TOUR
ACTIVITY 1 (INTRODUCTION TO CLAY)
-
Each child will be given a ball of raw birch clay and will be guided to mould it into an object or character related to the theme catered by the school or planned by our trainers
-
We will also invite children to discover the unique texture of clay, ensuring a holistic sensorial experience.
ACTIVITY 2 (TOUR OF THE KILN)
-
The children will then be brought to the mouth of the kiln where they will learn about the history, functionality and relevance of the kilns in a fun and engaging way, lead by our trainers
-
The highlight will be when the children walk through the 43m long kiln, stepping into the history of Singapore; understanding how people worked a long time ago.
ACTIVITY 3 (GLAZING)
-
Each child will be provided a bisque-ware item (a ceramic piece), either a trinket or a coaster which they will glaze (special paint for clay). This has them personalise the ceramic piece as a memory of the tour and what they have learnt.
-
The bisque-ware creation will be collected at the end of the tour to be fired up in a kiln at our HQ. This second and final round of firing ensures a complete ceramic creation, with vibrant colours and a natural shine, making it an everlasting ceramic piece for their homes.
